Activity
#2: Title: Cast the Movie Version!
Time Estimation:
Two days
Objective(s):
1.
Use text clues in order to construct a visual image of the characters
2.
Compare characteristics of modern actors and actresses to describe imaginary
characters
3.
Understand the text enough to describe each character and be able to decide
how they will act.
Description: After reading Romeo and Juliet, students will
need to pick quotes from the play that define each character. Using these quotes
students will create PowerPoint comparison presentations that include the distinguishing quote from the character, a description
of each character, pictures of the modern actor chosen to play him/her in the student’s movie, an explanation of what
about the actor makes him/her perfect for the role. The students will then present
their cast to the class and after all students have gone and their rationale explained, the class will vote on who will play
each role in the overall class production.
