Students will familiarize themselves with
theater vocabulary terms by taking a trip to a stage and completing a photo scavenger hunt that includes previously defined
terms. Students must include themselves in the shots so that they can be used
later.
Students will create a presentation in
which they will generate a Shakespeare-style story by using the photographs they took during the field trip. The story must follow a theme similar to Shakespeare’s plays that will be discussed previously in
class.
Students will generate a paper in which
they compare the modern stage to the Globe Theater. They should include the vocabulary
discussed earlier and use their field trip as a point of comparison.
Students will discuss the Shakespeare play
being read to modern productions. Students will cast a modern movie version of
the play by selecting personalities today that they feel are similar to the characters in the play. This will generate understanding with characterization.
